The IRF520 transistor load control driver module is used to connect up to 120W DC loads to an Arduino controller or other microprocessor control device. The module can perform switching function as well as load control function. Through the module, LED lighting, DC motors, low-power compressors, electromagnetic starters, etc. can be connected to the controller. The module has three connectors for connecting to the controller, for connecting the load and for connecting an external power supply:

  • pins marked on the module board as SIG, VCC and GND are used to connect to the controller;
  • terminals clamps marked on the module board V + and V- are used to connect controlled devices or switched devices;
  • Terminals The clamps marked on the module board VIN and GND are used to connect an external power supply.

To use the module, you need to connect the controller to the SIG and GND contacts. Moreover, if you need to control the load, then the PWM output of the controller must be connected to the SIG contact. If it is necessary to control commutation, then the digital output of the controller must be connected to the SIG contact. If there is voltage at the SIG contact, the red LED is on. The GND pin is used as a common pin, the VCC pin is not used. Further, a controlled or switched device with a maximum power of 120 W must be connected to the module contacts V + and V-. When connecting a controlled device, the polarity must be observed. If the device is connected to the module for load control, then it needs external power supply. External power is connected to VIN and GND pins. The power value of the external power supply unit is selected depending on the needs of the controlled device. The maximum output parameters of the external power supply can be 24 V and 5 A DC. With a switched current of more than 1 A, a radiator must be installed on the transistor.
